NSC Writing Specialist Carissa Berge-Sisneros

Name: Carissa Berge-Sisneros
Major: Mathematics
Expected Graduation: December 2016
I like mathematics; that does not mean I am naturally good at it, I just work hard. If you say you are "not good at math" or "hate math" in front of me, do not be surprised if I give you some tough love. That would be what we refer to in the WC as a fixed mindset. Let's change that, shall we? As a mathematics enthusiast, I often surprise people when I admit my fondness for the liberal arts, but I have always been a writer and performer; ask me to play an improv game. I love to read and write stories from multiple points-of-view because it is equally a challenge and a delight to interlace each character’s voice to depict one coherent story. I enjoy reading satire, primarily due to my dry sense of humor and the latent sarcasm that charges my every word like a subterranean river. I would like to help students and aspiring writers to find their own style and put a bit of themselves in their work.
